Dunn Predicts
More Glory Days For Nonleague
Blyth Spartans boss Harry Dunn's hope is that other
NonLeague sides throughout the north east will blaze an FA Cup
trail of their own in future seasons following his side's
battling third round defeat to Blackburn in midweek.
Dunn was delighted by the performance his part-timers put up
against the Premiership millionaires as they went down 1-0 at
Croft Park.
And while the game will stick in his players' memory for a
lifetime, his wish is that it will not be too long before the
NonLeague locals see another game of such magnitude.
He said: "Not many NonLeague teams from the north east ever
make the first round, never mind the third. It's 30 years since
we had a run as good as that in the cup and it would be good to
see other teams from the area doing as well in the
competition."
And Dunn had words of comfort for Andrew Wright who had a
golden chance to force a replay in the dying minutes, but
volleyed wide.
"Andrew played a big part in us coming so far in the
competition and it is a pity he missed that chance. But he shot
with his left foot. If the cross had come from the other side
he'd have scored."
